Libby McColl
“The textures and colours of rust, lichen and paint and rope on neglected and disused buildings and fence posts in our countryside are the inspiration for my paintings. The transforming into art as nature takes over and repossesses man made objects. I paint in acrylic and try to keep my technique spontaneous and versatile, using all manner of materials and tools in order to make the artwork feel alive and breathing!”
The New Zealand countryside is the inspiration for Libby's warm emotive paintings.
Born and raised in Auckland, Libby has always held a deep respect and love for rural NZ. Idyllic holidays at her grandparents bach by Lake Taupo formed her passion for the Central Plateau region, the subject of many of her paintings.
Libby is mainly self taught, with a background in Graphic Art, she has been painting since 2004.
Her artworks evoke a sense of nostalgia for times gone by.
